"Marine
Impressions" is the work of Professor William W. Ward, a biochemist
at Rutgers
University
in New
Jersey. As
a full time research scientist, Dr. Ward has spent 40 years studying
the biochemistry of luminescence in
jellyfish and ctenophores, from the Florida
gulf coast to the Puget
Sound in northern
Washington.
He is an acclaimed world expert in bioluminescence with special
emphasis on green-fluorescent protein (GFP). This
research has led to a unique art form (patent pending) called "Marine
Impressions." The
process begins with the drying of freshly collected, diaphanous
marine creatures followed by staining with biological stains. Subtle
variations in the procedure result in no two "Impressions"
being alike. |
